Weekend Project

So I decided on making a bookshelf for my son for my weekend project and I think it turned out great! I started with a small odd pallet Added some extra slats to the back and front...using some power tools...yay! Lol I have just recently come accustomed to using them (thanks to my...able to do ANYTHING husband) so this and the 95 degree heat was definitely a challenge but oh so worth it! Then I stain my project and viola I have a completely FREE bookshelf that is VERY sturdy and I think it's quite nifty...

This is the absolute truth~

I do this at least twice a day lol

Gardening

I have been searching for an inexpensive way to surround my flowers without it being an eye sore and I think I've come up with a way...I decided since all my many flowers are already surrounded by pine straw why not edge them in pine cones? I have so many trees outlining my yard they were everywhere anyway...I got my son to help me gather enough to outline all the flowers and dug them in the ground a little so that they wouldn't blow away...I think they look spectacular and the fact that I didn't pay a dime for them makes them look even better to me lol

All smiles :-)

Kitty smiles...I just love em! This is 9 month old Jasmine who belongs to my son..and of course is the baby of the house...she is the only fur baby who is allowed on the couch...I know that is such favoritism but I just can't help it she's so darn cute...LOL...She absolutely hates pics of herself and I can never get one with her eyes open but the smile is good enough for me

BEACH TIME!!!!!

Needless to say we live at the beach...Been trying to find things for my little man to do at the beach besides play in the sand...any ideas? (Even though I have no problem with sand)

Pinteresting things! 35 things I can't believe I didn't think to do!!!!!!!!

Here are some of those CLEARANCE flowers I was talking about! I LOVE THEM! Like my child love them! lol I believe I spent 6 dollars on these and they were all dead when I got them and now they are just thriving!!!! YAY!!!!!

FAVOR BAGS!!!!

FAVOR BAGS!
We also made these favor bags! I was lucky to find these red bags at the local DOLLAR TREE store so they were a dollar (they also have awesome favors there too). Then we used the same face for the pinata and scaled it down a bit to fit the bags. Filled them up and gave them out! the kids loved them!

The easy and cheap pinata!

Ok first I bought the punch balloons from the dollar store (I'm cheap like that). Used this because it had the rubber band I used as a hanger. Then I mixed up flour and water to make the paper bonding agent. Cut newspaper in one inch strips. I let collin help me put the strips on so he would feel like he help (he just made a mess) lol Hang it outside for about two hours to dry. May take longer depending on how many layers you have. Don't let it dry completely because the streamers need to go on while it is still sticky. Then...
I went to my favorite place PINTEREST. Typed in angry bird printables and found these really great balloon faces. I also got the red streamers from the dollar store so there is the 3$ I spent to make this, as I already had newspaper, flour, and water. Cut out the bird face and belly. Then just experiment on how you want the streamers to go on. I tried to make mine look like feathers as much as possible. Once you've brought in your almost dried pinata, and applied the streamers. Back outside it goes to completely dry. It is ok if the newspaper shows through a bit when it dries it won't be noticeable.
This is how mine looked after applying the streamers..you could see the newspaper at first. And my hands were totally red. After this has dried maybe an hours or so take some hot glue or whatever kind of glue you would like to use and glue on your bird face and....
Viola...you have your almost finished angry bird pinata!!!!! I say almost finished because you still have to bust the balloon and staple or glue in that awesome rubber band to the top and add candy. I stapled in the rubber band and it worked out perfect but if you have lots of heavy candy you may want to use something a little more sturdy! Hope you make this it was a wonderful addition to my son's birthday and I was sooooo proud!

My little guinea pig's birthday! ;-)

So my little guy turned 4 last week and I made almost everything for his party but this is about the pinata I made...It was angry birds and I think I was more excited about it than he...But that's ok I had fun watching him bust all that hard work anyway lol I will post a pic of the breaking and then I will post to let you know how I made it ;-) Only cost 3$ to make! (Yes that is a recliner on my porch) My husband obviously won that battle!!! UGH!
